Position: Intermediate Personal Insurance Underwriter

Reporting to the Personal Lines Team Leader, you will be responsible for accepting, rejecting and amending all levels of property and automobile new business, renewals and endorsements. You will work with colleagues to maintain a profitable personal insurance portfolio.

Specific Responsibilities:

Ensuring that personal insurance policies are selected according to corporate guidelines and are rated accurately on the mainframe computer system.
Developing and maintaining positive broker relations.
Issuing new business and policy changes within binding authority.
Reviewing and adjusting broker entered policies (EDI).
Reviewing policy renewals and taking appropriate action within binding authority.
Reviewing claims activity and taking appropriate action within binding authority.
Maintaining desk to company service standards.
Providing accurate information to customers primarily via the telephone, memo or e-mail.
Auditing and training of brokers, as required.

Qualifications:

University degree in any discipline or a 2 year college diploma from a provincially recognized and funded community college in a relevant discipline or the CIP designation.
Minimum of 1 year experience in a personal insurance environment.
