Description

Reporting to the Director, Communications & Community Engagement, the Communications & Media Officer will develop and implement communications and media strategies and tools to communicate the companies’ policies, programs, initiatives and positions regarding a variety of issues; in alignment with the organization's Strategic Plan to ensure the organization's Mission and Vision is achieved.

Qualifications

• Bilingualism (French and English) is mandatory for the Ottawa position and an asset for the Brockville position.
• Minimum University Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or the Arts, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of 5 years of communications experience
• Experience with a proven understanding of internal/external organizational communications
• Experience in developing communications plans and a variety of communications products for different audiences
• Professionalism and experience to operate effectively with the media
• Strong writing, copy editing and proofreading skills
• Experience in the health care sector is an asset
• Demonstrated capacity to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholder groups

Duties

• Coordinates the development, creation and implementation of media strategies to support and promote company projects as well as programs and events
• Consults with various clinical leaders to identify their program needs, issues and requirements
• Writes and edits communications materials including news releases, media advisories and backgrounders
• Provides media support for all major events
• Acts as spokesperson when appropriate
• Works proactively to communicate the vision, values, mission and accomplishments of the company to key stakeholders
• In coordination with the Director, Communications & Community Engagement and the Communications & Media Officer in Brockville, develops and maintains a detailed Crisis Communications plan for the company’s various sites.
