Responsibilities

Underwrite new business, endorsements, claims, correspondence and inspection reports in accordance with company philosophy.
Review risks for acceptability, secure additional information as required, improve the source of information and decide on appropriate course of action.
Conduct seminars, broker visits and attend company/industry functions (some travel required)
Manage an assigned territory of brokers by fostering a business relationship conducive to profitably writing business while maintaining company underwriting philosophy.
Identify under-performing portfolios of business within the assigned territory and recommend corrective course of action.
Collaborate with marketing to ensure underwriting and marketing issues are addressed in a unified manner.
Interact with underwriting support, accounting, customer service and claims.
Organize workload to ensure that company service standards are consistently met.
Learn and keep abreast of legislative/industry changes that affect day to day operations.

Requirements

University Degree, College Diploma or C.I.P Designation.
Minimum 2 years of Underwriting experience.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills
Superior interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
Comfortable with computers
