Description

Our client is looking for 2 senior candidates and 1 junior candidate to be added to their dynamic Research and Development team in their Actuarial Services Department. The right candidates will be responsible for utilizing various statistical techniques to explore and analyze large quantities of data to discover meaningful patterns and rules.

Qualifications (Senior Role)

• A university degree in Statistics or a related discipline.
• Prior work experience in the property and casualty insurance industry, using GLM's for pricing or predictive modeling applications.
• Past experience in a leadership role.
• SAS programming skills.
• Preference will be given to candidates who:
• Are working towards a designation in the Casualty Actuarial Society.

Duties (Senior Role)

• Coach a team of individuals who are responsible for creating predictive models for various business applications.
• Provide technical guidance to the staff in the area of predictive analytics.
• Performance management of staff including on-going feedback and support.
• Liaising with our internal business partners to understand their objectives and then work jointly with them to recommend predictive analytics solutions.
• Present numerical findings in a straightforward business setting.
• Ability to lead and mentor staff.
• Strong analytical abilities, especially in the area of numerical analysis.
• The ability to understand a business challenge or opportunity and then use statistical analysis to bring forth recommendations.
• Remain calm under pressure and perform well in a busy environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Team player

The Research and Development Analyst X2 is a junior role and the right candidate MUST have:
1) A university degree in Statistics or a related discipline.
2) Prior work experience in the property and casualty insurance industry, using GLM's for pricing or predictive modeling applications.
3) SAS programming skills.
