Interoperability Engineer

Our client, a Canadian based leading global player in the communication market currently has an exciting opportunity for an Interoperability Engineer in their Vaughn location.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Interoperability Engineer will carry out interoperability testing for VoIP terminals and gateways. The successful candidate will work autonomously, with minimal supervision, to test and complete interoperability test plans and those of third parties, in a timely manner, as part of the product release plan. Where required, the candidate will author test strategies, detailed test plans and develop automated test scripts to ensure and facilitate systematic test execution.

The candidate is expected to troubleshoot and analyze protocol and network layer issues, as they are encountered, and work with either the design team or a third party to have them resolved. All ongoing findings are documented for team members and management, and all relevant results are published as white papers and FAQs for general distribution. In addition to the in-house testing, the candidate will be required to support interoperability issues that are reported from the field having been escalated through Tier 2 and Tier 3 support teams. This will require direct interface with customers and third party partners. Some travel may be required for onsite management of technical relationship with strategic customers and third party partners.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer or System Design Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years experience in VoIP telephony
• Experience using IP logging tools and troubleshooting SIP protocol message flows
• Strong understanding of IP networking and associated protocols such as DHCP, TFTP, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, XML, TLS, SRTP, and authentication protocols and procedures
• Experience with networking infrastructure such as routers, Ethernet switches, hubs, firewalls and session border controllers
• Experience with various IP Call Servers from companies such as BroadSoft, Sylantro, Nortel, MetaSwitch and Digium/Asterisk
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with and manage customer and third party relationships
• Ability to engage customers, understand their technical interoperability requirements, explore and propose technical options and deliver compliant solutions in an expedited timeframe.
• Strong organizational and technical presentation skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environment
